Delete Your Account

Winnow — made by Floodgates Studio LLC — lets you delete your account and everything tied to it at any time. This page explains exactly how to do it and what happens to your data.

How to delete your account in the app

Open Winnow.
Go to the Feed, then open Settings.
Tap Delete Account.
Type your email address to confirm.
Tap Delete.

Deletion begins immediately. Your account and everything associated with it are removed as described below.

Write in from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We'll confirm and complete the deletion for you.

We read every message and aim to respond within two business days.

What gets deleted

When you delete your account, we immediately and permanently remove all of the data linked to it, including:

Your account and profile (email address, time zone, plan).
Every saved article (URLs, titles, captured article text, metadata, embeddings, and thumbnails).
Every idea card (summaries and explanations, spaced-repetition and notification state, card hierarchy, and any public share links) and the connections between related ideas.
Your notifications and their delivery records.
Your push-notification tokens.
Your sign-in (magic-link) tokens and any API access tokens.

What's kept briefly, then removed

A de-identified deletion record. We keep a one-way hash (SHA-256) of your user ID and email, plus the deletion date, reason, and a request ID. It cannot be traced back to you and exists only so we can confirm the deletion if you ask. It is automatically purged after 30 days.
Server request logs roll off within 30 days.
Backups roll off within 30 days.

Third-party services

The services Winnow relies on to operate — OpenAI (idea-card and embedding generation), Jina AI (reader-mode fetch for a few paywalled news sites), the Expo push service, our email provider, and our host, Render — only receive data in transit to perform their function. Their retention is governed by their own terms. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Bottom line

Everything tied to your account is gone from our active systems within 30 days of deletion, including the anonymized audit record. The audit record contains no information that can identify you.
